Artist: Pandit Sukhdev Prasad Mishra

Pt. Sukhdev Prasad Mishra is from a renowned musical family of the famous Banaras Gharana.  He received initial training on violin from his brother Pt. Somnath Mishra, and later from Dr. V. Balaji (Banaras Hindu University). He has been an ambassador of Hindustani Classical Music for over 25 years. Son of Late Pt. Bhagwan Das Mishra, who was an expert both in Sarangi and Tabla, Pandit Sukhdev is also a multifaceted personality who has also learnt vocal music from his uncle Late Pt. Narayan Das Mishra.  A child prodigy who has been performing since the age of six likes to experiment and explore new techniques has successfully created a niche from himself.  His bold use of meend and gamaka (sliding techniques) on the violin, as well as his exceptional bowing skills make the sound unique.  In his performances, Sukhdev Mishra remains true to traditional raags (raagdari) while being playfulness with tempo (layakari). He has been invited to many national and international programs for performances.
