Belonging to an illustrious lineage of music, Rajat Prasanna started learning music at the age of 6 from his grandfather Pandit Raghunath Prasanna and father Shri Ravi Shankar Prasanna. An established and well-received flautist of the Benaras Gharana, Rajat ji is an ‘A’ graded artist from Doordarshan/All India Radio and also a recipient of the prestigious CCRT Scholarship for Young Artists. Owner of prolific talent, his rendition 'Dharohar 2'- a collection of ragas and melodies released by Times Music in 2002 at the age of 14, attributed him with being one of the youngest flautists with a studio album. Main soundtrack for Dilip Mehta's film “The Fogotten Women” - winner of the best documentary film at the Hollywood Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival (2008) was also recorded by Rajat ji.
