Debojyoti ji was initiated into Hindustani classical music and the Sitar at the age of 7 by his father.  At the age of 18, he became a disciple of Pandit Barun Kumar Pal, a senior and eminent artiste of Hindustani classical music and pioneer of Hansaveena.

Debojyoti ji has been blessed by Pt. Ravi Shankar on several occasions. A graded artist of the All India Radio, Delhi, he is also an empanelled artiste under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (I.C.C.R.) Besides, a National Scholarship awardee by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Debojyoti ji has delivered several performances as a soloist, with his guru Pandit Barun Pal, and in duets, in India and abroad.  To mention a few - Indian Classical Music and Dance Festival in Singapore 2016, RIMPA Music and Dance Festival 2009 and 2014, Pt. Ravi Shankar Memorial Concert 2013, ‘RaagAarti’ – a music festival commemorating the 99th birth anniversary of Pt. Ravi Shankar in 2019.  He has performed with Masters like Pt. Samir Chatterjee and Ustad Akram Khan.
